Digital Voodoo release new beta installers for FCP4 running on G5's or under Panther |

Digital Voodoo have announced the availability of a new beta installer for Digital Voodoo standard definition (SD) cards that enables the cards to be used with FCP4 running on G5's or under Panther (OSX.3.2). Following the announcement at IBC that Digital Voodoo were suspending development, they have continued to work on their drivers in order to meet the needs of their OEM customers. The good news is that as a result of this work they are now able to offer end users more than originally promised at IBC, i.e. support for Panther and G5's. Two versions of the new 7.1b1 installer are available, one supporting just the D1 64 RT card which will update the cards firmware as part of the installation. The other being for all other SD cards which cannot have their firmware updated by software. Those customers who do not have Final Cut Pro 4, i.e. customers with Combustion, After Effects or Premier, will also need to download and install the Digital Voodoo 7.1b1 Codec Installer which contains the Apple 4:2:2 Uncompressed Codec Installer that is usually installed by Final Cut Pro 4. FCP3 owners with a D1 64 RT card should use installer 6.1b4 FCP3 owners with a D1 64 AV card fitted with V107 firmware should use installer 6.1b3 (non D1 64 RT) if they wish to make use of real time effects. FCP3 owners with other standard def cards or D1 64 AV owners not wishing to use real time effects or not having V107 firmware should use installer 6.0.1FC6. 7. I have FCP4 which installer should I use? FCP4 owners with D1 64 RT running OSX.3.2 should use installer 7.1b1. FCP4 owners with other standard def cards should use 7.1b1, but this is an unsupported installer. FCP4 owners with D1 64 RT running OSX.2.8 should use installer 7.0.1. FCP4 owners with other standard def cards running OSX.2.8 should use 7.0.1b1, but this is an unsupported installer. 8. Do these installers support HD cards? No, you should still use HD Fury installer 2.0.2. |
